ROCKIN’ WASABI STUDIO

Artist – Masako Birmingham

Masako Birmingham is a Japan-born and self-taught artist currently based in the Lower Hudson Valley, New York.
Pursuing her interest in art, she came to New York in 2012. While living in the Lower Hudson Valley, which is rich in art, history and nature, her enthusiasm in crafts has been inspired by her environment, and she started to create handmade objects: origami jewelry and paintings.

As a Japanese person who grew up in Hiroshima with her grandmother who was one of the few survivors from the atomic bomb, her creation embraces hope for love, peace and lives, rendering her identity through Japanese materials such as Japanese paper used for her jewelry.

She is currently working on her jewelry making, watercolor painting and writing, while pursuing her creation in various forms.
